Optionally, the elongated shape has a width that is less than a width of most doorframes available in the market, such that the doorbell camera 106 can be directly mounted on a commonly available doorframe. In some implementations, the lens assembly 704 of the camera module is disposed within a top half of the device housing 702, and the button top 706 of the doorbell system is disposed on a bottom half of the device housing 702. When the doorbell camera 106 is mounted on a wall surface or a doorbell frame, the lens assembly 704 is located on top of the button top 706, thereby allowing a field of view of the lens assembly 704 to remain clear when a user presses the button top 706. Referring to FIGS. 7A and 7B, in this example, the device housing 702 includes an elongated body and two semicircular ends, and the elongated body has a width substantially equal to a diameter of the two semicircular ends. The lens assembly 704 is concentric with a top one of the two semicircular ends, and the button top 706 is concentric with a bottom one of the two semicircular ends.

So, similarly to the traditional smoke detectors, the case of the Roost RSA 400 is circular, while towards the bottom, the body gets narrower and finishes into a larger, thin plate where the device gets in contact with the ceiling or wall. Since the plastic case is covered by a white matte finish, it will easily blend in on a ceiling it actually looks like a flush mount lighting and, since it is a relatively small device it measures 5. 63 x 5. 63 x 1. 75 inches, it won’t attract too much attention. On the top of the detector, there is a recessed zone on which resides an elevated button press to silence the CO/smoke alarm and hold it to test weekly, a CO/GAS indicator, a Power/Smoke indicator and four circular cut outs for the speaker. There are no other flashy design elements, such as a large LED light, so compared with other ‘smarter’ detectors, it may look a bit plain, but it does have everything one would expect from a smoke/CO/gas/fire alarm. If you decide to do it yourself, the installation process is not really that difficult: first, you need to remove the mounting bracket by twisting the main body of the alarm, attach it to the wall and you will now connect the three wires from the wall to the Quick Connector as following: black to the hot side of the AC wire, white to neutral and yellow, if you need to interconnect with other existing alarms the Power has to be turned off prior to this operation. Afterwards, insert the Roost battery, plug the Quick Connector into the Roost RSA 400’s base, reattach the body of the alarm to the bracket and turn on the AC power. The green LED will indicate that the device is powered on and the red LED will blink once every 40 seconds to indicate a proper operation. The USST allows for an early smoke detection during stratification for both fast and smouldering fires using the same sensor for both and, in order to avoid false alarms, the device will operate at a low sensitive level and, in case smoke is detected, it will signal the alarm; it also adjusts and maintains a constant alarm threshold, therefore minimizing the effect of ambient conditions and it features a regulated 5V power supply for the ion chamber.

The second biggest complaint I saw was with the Beam not connecting. Many people stated that it was DoA or just simply would not connect. I ran into the latter issue when I received mine. After doing some research though I discovered why. To set up the Beam, it requires that you do so through its app on a device that is connected to your Wi Fi via a 2. 4GHz frequency Also security needs to be WPA/WPA2. Now most routers these days are dual band 2. 4GHz and 5GHz and devices will connect based on their preference. When attempting to connect my Beam, my Xperia Z5 Premium phone was connecting to my Wi Fi via 5 GHz, even though I was attempting to do it via 2. 4GHz. The only way I was able to overcome this was to use an old tablet with an older Android OS and going into my Wi Fi Settings and selecting the 2.
